John Mayer has been named No. 11 to Details’ annual Power 40 list…for being a "press whore."

The magazine says the singer, 31, has split personalities: one as a blues-pop prodigy, and the second as a starlet-wooing Lothario who kisses and tells.

(He’s been linked to Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Minka Kelly and currently Jennifer Aniston.)

Details says the secret of his success is that he appears sensitive through his "clever" blog posts and stand-up routines. The "too smart" performer can easily switch gears between lobbying for anti-paparazzi laws to defending Aniston to a swarm of photographers just a month later.
